Back in April I won 2 tickets through KBUL 93 to go see Josh Gracin and Darryl Worley. I was totally excited and gave them to David as a part of his Easter gift. Well on Monday, KBUL was having a contest to find the best story of persons who won 2nd place. I just so happen to have 'won' my husband being in second place. My friend and I were at a Dee's restaurant when we noticed 2 cowboys sitting in a booth across the room. We introduced ourselves and invited them to go watch a movie with us. My friend and I played rock, paper, scissors to see who would get to ride with the tall, cute cowboy. I lost! We went to watch movies and were out way too late. My friend and the tall, cute cowboy dated each other for about 2 weeks when he called me and asked if I wanted to hang out with him because my friend was a little crazy!!! End of story we have been together for over 14 years!!!
Anyway, I didn't win the KBUL contest, I took 2nd place. Which was actually the winner of 4 tickets to the concert and 2 backstage passes!

The Concert
We picked up our neighbor and friends, Don & Cynthia Anderson at 4:00 PM and meet up with my brother in law, Kim and his wife, Rochelle. We drove to Saratoga Springs and found a little Mexican Grill restaurant, La Lago. Enjoyed a good meal, I had the pork chimi and David had the Southwest Plate with enchilada, taco and burrito.
We were cutting time close I had to be to the KBUL kiosk @ 7:00 PM to get my backstage passes, we made it! I received my passes from Coyote McCoy and was told to meet them down by the stage @ 7:20. Megan Mullins was the header was we listened to her. We went down and was guided back stage where we meet Josh Gracin! Very handsome, polite and sweet! We had him sign a CD insert and our backstage passes. We got a picture with him and several of him. We also were able to meet Megan, she signed a couple of pics for us and we took a picture with her as well. We were told to come back @ 8:20 PM to meet Darryl Worely.
Josh Gracin came on stage right at 8:20, as we stood in line waiting for the PR to come get us we enjoyed listening to him up close and got some great shots! He played a number of current songs and also played a new song that was just recorded.
We were guided back, stood in line and waited for him to exit his trailer. We could hear Josh from the backstage area but could not see him. In the mean time Darryl Worley's PR was walking around letting everyone know that we would get one autograph and could have our picture taken with him. He noticed the 2 girls behind us, who did NOT dress for the weather, asked if they were cold and turn away. They laugh and said yes, we turned and were talking with them when Darryl Worley came out and gave them a comforter to share. He reminded them he needed it back when they got to the front of the line and walked away! I took a picture of the girls and they started to make phone calls!
Darryl Worely is 6 foot 6 inches, I told David it will be nice to have a picture with everyone in the same frame! We had our picture taken with him and he signed out backstage passes. He was very sweet and commented on my eyes! He talked about his daughter and his wife for a minute and we left. I got some great up close shots of him backstage. We returned to our seats and finished the Josh Gracin concert.
The night was a tribute to the military and they had ALOT of stories and videos and speakers in between shows. It was great, don't get me wrong, but it was ALOT! Everyone was cold and wanted to show to go on!!!!
Finally, Darryl Worely came out and performed a lot of his patriotic songs. We enjoyed his show. They were to have a fireworks display, but I could not handle the cold and longer so I asked if we could leave. David wanted to stay but I headed to the car with Don and Cynthia. We were able to see the fireworks, but missed Darryl coming back on stage to perform 'Have you forgotten'
I had a great time and enjoyed spending time with great friends and family!

Taylan's 12th Birthday
Happy Birthday to Taylan!!!!
Today he celebrates his 12th birthday! How proud we are of the young man he has become! He gets to participate in mutual nights, including scout outings and YM basketball!! But most exciting of all, he will receive the Aaronic Priesthood next Sunday! Yesterday, we talked again about the responsibilities he will have with the priesthood, most of which he thinks is pretty cool! He has passed of his Faith in God (in an interview by the best primary president in the World ;) YA Right!)
We like to go out for birthday dinner but because David left for Woodbadge today (look for upcoming BLOG) and then Sunday, we went out on Friday night. We had a school activity at Classic Skate on Friday night, so Taylan chose the Sizzler on 90th and State. We enjoyed dining with Coach Jerry Sloan, ok not so much WITH him, but he was 3 tables away from us. Coach complimented David on his Jazz hat, Andi received a smile and a pat on the back at the salad bar and we all wished him good luck in the playoffs as we left the restaurant. Taylan was pretty excited, he called his friends up to tell them.
We ALWAYS celebrate with a family party, so last night, we enjoyed cake & ice cream for his birthday with Gma Nae, Gpa John & Joni, Aunt Teresa, Uncle Chad & Jastyn, Aunt Tonya, Christian & Lexi Jo. Gpa Merlin & Gma Debbie, Uncle Jon, Tracy, Austin and Tristian were unable to make it!!! Taylan was really excited about his presents. We got him a football, a Star Wars Clone Wars Lego Spaceship and a Deron Williams Jersey! Gpa John & Joni gave him cash (the best thing in the world for a YM) He spent the money today on a Bionicles WII game!
All in all, he had a great birthday! We love you, son!!!

We're BAAAAAAACK!!
OK so after a long break, we have returned. Right before Christmas are computer had a relapse and since no one in this family is computer savvy, it was not fixed. But thanks to my friend Hollie and her tech savvy husband, Dustin, we are up and running now. Now had I know how freakin' simple it was to correct the problem we would have been up a LOOOONNNGGGG time ago. I feel REALLY stupido!
Instead of trying to back track we are just going to look to the future! So keep coming back! And thanks to Dustin, I now know how to upload pics from cds and on my desktop, so be lookin' for those as well!

Thomas Family Christmas
We celebrated the Christmas Holidays with the Thomas Family. This is a tradition that has happened for years. However, this year was extremely difficult as this is the first Christmas without Grandma Gloria. We celebrated her memory with a moment of silence. Just before her passing she finished the gifts that she makes every year for the grand children. This year she made snowmen and women ornaments out of plastic mesh and yarn. She asked that we wait until Christmas to give them to the children, that was a very heart felt moment and we knew she was there celebrating this glorious holiday with us.
We enjoy a delicious meal of soups and rolls with hot fudge brownie sundaes, we sang Christmas songs and a family friend who dresses as Santa brings gifts for all the children (supplied by Santa's helpers...of course). We purchase small gifts, just a couple of dollars each and give to each family. This year my favorite gift was by David's brother Kerry and his wife, Irene. It is a snowman made out of wood and painted. It is holding a wreath in his stick hand and has a picture of Grandma Gloria in its center. Painted across the front is 'A Family is Forever because Love never Melts.' What a beautiful, sentimental gift...thank you, Kerry and Irene.
And no Thomas Family party would be complete without the a little basketball, kids playing and chitter chatter.
Treasured Moments!

Taylans trip to Primary!
Now we would think primary is a fun place to be on Sunday....not for us! We are talking about Primary Children's Hospital. On Monday, Taylan was outside for recess playing basketball, he went in for a lay-up, lost his footing and slammed his head into the basketball pole. He apparently told his substitute teacher about the incident, who told him to 'just lay your head down.' OK...what kind of moron does not understand the seriousness of a head injury!!!!! Taylan did not tell me about it and the next morning Taylan complained of a headache and blurry vision. I called his pediatrician and they told me to go immediately to PCH. We checked in and after 5 people interviewed him and the resident MD consulted his attending he was sent to get a C/T. Taylan now has a picture of his brain! Luckily, nothing looked abnormal. We were advised to keep an eye on his pupil dilation, vomiting and increase in head pain. He has been recovering well, we appreciate every ones well wishes and prayers in his behave!

Thanksgiving
I am hopping all our friends and family enjoyed their Thanksgiving weekend.
David had requested I make homemade pies for Thanksgiving this year. It was a tradition of his mother. I was reluctant at first, but after flipping through my Betty Crocker Cookbook, I felt it was a task I could take on. So, I planned on baking on the morning of since we had no plans.....I got sick on Wednesday, I had not shopped for the ingredients and David had to work. I woke up on Thursday feeling a little better and David wanted to take me and the kids out for breakfast. He asked if I was feeling well enough to bake pies with his help, so we went to Walmart to pick up the ingredients that I did not have at home. Of coarse, most of the ingredients we were looking for were out, so we found other options. They did have Pumpkin filling, so we were good there. We found a banana cream pie kit by the bananas and an apple crisp kit in the produce.....score! We came home and started on the pies, David and Taylan baked the pumpkin and I assisted the girls with the banana cream. Once the pumpkin was baked I did the apple crisp.
We watched the Dallas Cowboys football game...they won. We had dinner at my mom's apartment and enjoyed a nice feast with all the goodies.
